My What If Year Cover

Author temporarily pauses her stressful career as the CEO of a high-powered consulting firm leaves her home in London to spend one year exploring the dream jobs of her youth, seeking answers to the question, “What If?”

Interesting concept and I was excited to read it. I felt like she was going thru what I currently feel. Burnout. So, she tries different jobs of her dreams. Which is what I would love to do. And it is written humorously. But all that was lost on me due to the fact that she comes from privilege. Yes, she is self-built which is awesome, but still, how many of us can just take a huge leave of absence from a well-paying job and know people in the theater and art world that could get them jobs on Broadway or Christies? Not many. Including me. I found that I skimmed through many of the pages that went on and on about her social connections. But it did inspire me to think about what I would like to do if I lose my current job and of course working with books was in it – hence my new Book Review hobby. Maybe if she was more relatable, I would have given it more stars.
